Coronavirus figures continue to creep up in BRACKNELL and WOKINGHAM as the country heads towards a ‘great reopening’ on June 21.

The most recent data recorded are in the double figures in both Bracknell and Wokingham.

Cases are higher in Wokingham Borough, with 17 new reports of coronavirus in the area recorded on Tuesday, June 1. On the same day, 11 new cases were recorded in Bracknell Forest.

Wokingham has almost double the number of new infection reports compared to Bracknell. According to the latest weekly figures, 78 new cases were recorded in Wokingham Borough, compared to 41 in Bracknell Forest.

The infection rate, the rate of cases per 100,000 is above average in  both Bracknell and Wokingham.

Bracknell is at 33.5, more than the England average of 28.9 and the South East average of 19.2 cases per 100,000 people.

Figures are higher in Wokingham, with the infection rate standing at 45.6.

The infection rate figures are calculated as the seven day rolling average, with the latest figures from Thursday, May 27.

It has hoped that there will be a ‘great reopening’ on June 21, where restrictions governing the capacity of venues will end.

Currently,  the government has allowed some larger performances and sporting events in indoor venues to take place, with a capacity of 1,000 people or half-full (whichever is a lower number).

Also, outdoor venues and events have been allowed to take place with a capacity of 4,000 people or half-full (whichever is a lower number. In the largest outdoor seated venues, where crowds can be spread out, up to 10,000 people will be able to attend (or a quarter of the venue being full, whichever is the lower number).

If you are suffering coronavirus symptoms, which include a new and continuous cough, a high temperature and a loss of taste and smell. You should self-isolate for two weeks and book a PCR Test from the Government.
