STUDENTS of a college in Bracknell have made the focus of their school project about the food market for cat and dog meat across Asia, supporting a campaign for its end.

Bex Eels and Alfie Young, both aged 17, modelled clothing for the NoToDogMeat campaign for their Art and Design BTEC Diploma they are undertaking at Bracknell and Wokingham College.

Nicholas, tutor to both the students, said: “Bex and Alfie are both dog lovers, and the finished result is very impressive.

Bracknell News:

“The biggest part of their work was to help raise awareness, especially among the slightly younger generation they represent.

"We are a nation of animal lovers and support all kinds of causes, but there is a real sense of dynamism to what NoToDogMeat does which I think really resonated with the students.”

NoToDogMeat is a charity working with local campaigners in countries with a dog and cat meat trade who want to make a change. The vegetarian organisation also rescues animals internationally, currently protecting more than 400 dogs in Beijing.

Julia de Cadenet, CEO of the NoToDogMeat charity also expressed her support for Bex and Alfie, saying: “NoToDogMeat is about building compassion one brick at a time, and brilliant projects like this are all part of that.

“In the UK, and especially in countries like China, the younger generation are rejecting past traditions and viewpoints. And this can only help further the aims of NoToDogMeat.

“These pictures are absolutely wonderful, well done Bex and Alfie and thank you!”
