This week we take a look back at some of the happy events that took place in the borough in the early 90s.
Bracknell News’ wedding section – aptly named Wedding Belles – featured the marriages of six couples.
Colin Yeandle and Dee Sexton, Andrew Croft and Jacqueline Evans, Michael Singleton and Jane Dunsdon, Stephen Richard Sexton and Jane Anne Ceiley, Stephen Ronald Berry and Andrea Anne Farmer, and Stuart Peter Clough and Deborah Jane McDonald all tied the knot in August 1991.
In the same month, Antony Waistell and Amanda Waite, both from Binfield, celebrated their fairytale wedding where the bride greeted her nervous groom at the church half-an-hour late after a hairdressing appointment overran.
The couple decided to go all out with a golden Cinderella-esque coach used in the film The Slipper and the Rose, which they hired for the day complete with a coachman and two horses.
Also that month, Bracknell couple Albert and Irene Ottewell celebrated their golden anniversary – 50 years – after they met at Albert’s sister’s wedding 51 years previously.
They celebrated in style as their four children and 10 grandchildren at the time organised a surprise.
And pop star Kim Appleby paid a visit to brave Bracknell toddler Kira Charman after she underwent major heart surgery.
The News helped to bring a ray of sunshine into the two-year-old’s life after arranging for Kim to visit the children’s ward at Guy Hospital in London.
She broke off from filming a video for her latest single after Kira’s plight touched her heart.
