These are all the big planning decisions that have been made in the Wokingham area this week.

The biggest plans were for developments in the suburbs of Reading which fall under Wokingham Borough Council.

Plans for a new TV studio in Shinfield were approved, as was a scheme to convert a deserted car park into a storing facility for a building business.

A series of other plans were decided on during a meeting of the borough council’s planning committee on Wednesday, July 14.

Ambitious plans by the University of Reading to make a TV studio at Thames Valley Science Park were given the go ahead this week.

Once built, the studio will host game shows and chat shows with live audiences, with capacity for 600 people for the biggest shows.

Wokingham councillors expressed concern about the number of parking spaces provided as part of the application, which included 175 spaces.

However, planning officers said there would be other parking opportunities within the wider Science Park site and shuttle buses could be run to and from Reading train station for big studio audience programmes.

The car park for the deserted Loddon Bridge Park and Ride will finally be getting some use.

The site has been left derelict since the park and ride was closed in October 2015.

Now, it will serve as a storage centre for the Hochsoll Properties Ltd building company. A fence will prevent any intruders from entry.
