DARING thieves tried to steal a caravan from a garden twice in one evening -- with the second attempt coming after police were called.
This led to local police claiming holiday vehicles will be targeted in the near future due to the current travel restrictions.
Robbers targeted the caravan on Park Drive in Sunningdale just after midnight on Wednesday, July 21.

The owner of the caravan was alerted to the first attempted break-in when they heard a noise in their garden and went to investigate.
There, the owner found two men trying to cut through the chains keeping the caravan secure.
One man then ran into a hedge and down the garden jumping over a fence, while the other suspect got into a car (a black people-carrier) and drove away.
Police were called and attended the scene immediately, carrying out a search but they were unable to locate the car.

Yet one hour later, the owner of the caravan heard more noises and the two suspects were again found in the same place using tools to remove a bolt holding the caravan to its lock.
They ran off again after they were disturbed by the caravan owner, and police were again called and attended the scene.
Officers carried out another search but again failed to locate the thieves.
Jeffrey Pick, Police, Community Engagement & Resilience Officer for Windsor & Maidenhead, said: “As caravans and other holiday vehicles are receiving premium prices at this time due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, they will be targeted for the near future.

“Please put additional security measures in place. Chain it down so that thieves will have to make a lot of noise cutting through the chain and fit a holding lock to the towing mechanism.
“If you can – make sure you have a video doorbell covering any vehicles on your drive with alerts to your mobile phone.”
