WOKINGHAM saw a mini baby-boom during the coronavirus lockdown, the latest data has revealed.
Birth registrations in Wokingham were up by 144 per cent between December 2020 and June 2021, when compared to December 2019 and June 2020, according to results collected from ONS and NISRA data between 2020 and 2021.

Alongside Wokingham, Reading saw a 196 per cent rise in birth registrations, alongside Buckinghamshire, which saw a 60 per cent rise.
Nearly a total of 222,409 babies were conceived during the various lockdowns and born in the UK, since December last year - this however, when compared to birth rates through previous years, is about average.

A spokesman for Assured, the life insurance company who conducted the research, said: "With all COVID-19 restrictions now lifted, we’re finally able to look back and explore any of the good outcomes of such a challenging time."
