A boxing fitness gym is gearing up to open in Wokingham town centre thanks to council funding.
The gym, called BXGFit will be arriving at Peach Place this autumn, and will host boxing, combat sports, and fitness sessions once open.
CGIs show all the equipment you would expect at a gym, including pullees, weight training machines, a weighted pushing sled, and boxing specifics like a ring and a vast array of punching bags, including aquabags, heavy bags and uppercut bags.
Boxing, combat and fitness sessions will be available for children aged 8 and upwards and adults in their quest to be the next Anthony Joshua or Connor McGregor.
The creation of the gym has been spearheaded by Wokingham Borough Council, which has invested £630,000 into the BXGFit, which it calls a ’boutique boxing fitness hub’.

Councillor Parry Batth, executive member for environment and leisure (Conservative, Shinfield North) said: “Reinforced by the successes at the recent Olympic games, boxing has risen in popularity and the council has identified a gap within Wokingham town’s leisure offering.
“BXGFit will provide a dedicated, fully equipped, and functional space to support our residents whilst building a strong and safe community.
“The new boxing hub will provide many benefits to residents and the wider community, including promoting an active lifestyle, addressing anti-social behaviour, supporting young individuals, and providing career opportunities.
“For anyone who is interested in finding out more about BXGFit and would like to sign up for an early bird membership and class discount, I encourage you to visit our team in August and September at Peach Place.”
Anyone who is curious about what the gym has to offer is encouraged to meet the council’s sports and leisure team from 8am on Saturday, August 21, and Saturday, September 4.
At the meetings, the team will answer questions and show people 3D videos and CGIs of what it will look like once complete.
The hub will be available for hire during off peak hours for boxing clubs and combat sports partners.
The council has also said it will form part of its strategy to tackle anti-social behaviour and young offending by providing discounted sessions, in order to ‘help find a safe place to socialise and exercise’.
The news about BXGFit comes after the council agreed a six figure spend for the gym and other fitness and leisure based projects in June.

The funding for the projects was agreed on Thursday, June 24.
