THERE are a number of things drivers can end up in court for.

Drink-driving, driving under the influence of drugs, speeding, dangerous driving… the list goes on.

But for this reporter, one of the less common driving offences that makes its way to the courtroom is using a mobile phone while behind the wheel.

In fact, only seven drivers from Berkshire for this very offence since May 2021.

Here are their names and the punishments they received.

Ilioin Qevani, of Reed Way, Slough, was caught using his phone while driving on Bath Road in Slough on March 2, 2021.

In a hearing at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on July 20, 2021, 45-year-old Qevani was fined £220 and told to pay £124 in court fees.

His driving record was also endorsed with six points.

Andrew Loveridge, of Ditton Road, Datchet, was fined £220 for the same offence in a court hearing on May 19, 2021.

He was caught out driving on the A34 in Chilton, Oxon, on October 10, 2020.

43-year-old Loveridge was also banned from driving for six months ‘due to repeat offending’, according to a court filing.

Loveridge also received six points on his licence.

Daniel Urquhart, 39, of Denby Way, Reading, received a much smaller fine of £40 for using his phone while driving on Chatham Street in Reading on December 12, 2020.

He was also told to pay £124 in court fees and was handed six points on his licence following a hearing at Oxford Magistrates’ Court in June.

Airi Yetli, of Ragstone Road, Slough, was hit with a £220 fine after using his phone on Uxbridge Road in Hampton on February 4, 2021.

The 36-year-old was forced to pay a further £134 in court fees and was given six penalty points following an August court hearing in Bromley.

Agnieszka Dawczyk, of Coronation Square, Reading, was caught using her phone while driving on the motorway back in November 2020.

The 37-year-old was on the M4 Eastbound in Chieveley when she was caught on her device.

She was fined £220 for this offence and a further £880 for driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

On top of this, the Reading woman was told to pay £200 in court fees, bringing her total bill to £1,300.

She did not receive a driving ban but was handed six points on her licence.

Rukhsana Noor, of Lascelles Road, Slough, was in an Audi A4 when she was seen using her iPhone, according to a court filing.

She was convicted of the offence -- which took place in Slough on January 9, 2020 -- at Reading Magistrates’ Court on May 12, 2021.

The 48-year-old was fined £150 for this offence and a further £1,145 for driving whilst disqualified.

And finally, Mohammed Yebdri, of Russell Street, Reading, was on the A33 in Reading when he was caught on his mobile phone behind the wheel.

The 33-year-old committed the offence on February 9, 2021.

He was fined £134 for this crime and £403 for driving without insurance following a court hearing in Oxford in June.
