The number of people who have received the Covid-19 booster vaccine has been revealed for the first time by NHS England.
As part of the NHS trust's daily coronavirus update on Sunday, October 24, it was revealed that 834,295 people have had the booster jab in the south east to date.
Two million eligible people will be invited to receive a COVID-19 booster jab from the NHS this week, as the government seeks to see off a sharp rise in cases without introducing Plan B measures.
Around 7.5 million people have already been invited by text, email, and letter encouraging them to book through the National Booking Service, NHS England said.

But Plan B measures may be put in place, which could see the reintroduction of face coverings, social distancing and working from home.
It comes after Professor Anthony Harnden, deputy chairman of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, said booster jabs are important because immunity levels are “starting to fall off a little bit”.

“These boosters are incredibly good at giving you that extra protection,” he told ITV’s Good Morning Britain.
“It’s clear that the both the Pfizer and the AstraZeneca vaccines are waning in immunity levels.
“And in terms of what they’re really designed to do – which is protect severe infection or hospitalisations and death – whilst they’re holding up pretty well, they are starting to fall off a little bit.
“And that’s why we’re seeing some number of double-vaccinated people ending up in hospital so we really need to encourage people to have that booster vaccine.”
