Bracknell town centre was eerily quiet today as the traditional Boxing Day sales began.

As our photographs show, there were few signs of queues of shoppers eager to snap up a Boxing Day bargain.

Our photographs were taken between 10.30am and 11.30am this morning.

Several shops were still setting up 'sale' and '50 per cent off' signs ready to open - but others remained closed.

Only one store was busy - JD in Braccan Walk. People flurried in to get a bargain on expensive trainers and sportswear.

Next - famous for its Boxing Day sale queues - is closed this year to give employees a well-deserved rest.

Queues formed in the coffee shops with Gails attracting shoppers with their delicious pastries as well as Costa Coffee.

It comes after a number of major supermarkets and shops opted to close their doors on December 26 for a variety of reasons.
