The county of Berkshire has some of the best schools in the country. 

So it is unsurprising that many famous faces spent their school days in our county.

And it is not just celebrities but royalty too.

Kate Winslet

Bracknell News:

The Titanic megastar first began her education at St Mary and All Saints Church of England Primary School in Coley.

When she turned 11, Kate went on to Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead.

When she was interviewed by local publication 24Seven back in 2009, the Hollywood actress described herself still as a 'Reading girl'.

She said: “We spend a lot of time in Reading when we’re in England.

“We live in Oxfordshire so we’re always visiting."

Prince William and Kate Middleton

Bracknell News:

They will one day be King and Queen of the commonwealth. But Prince William and Kate Middleton both spent their school days here in Berkshire.

Prince William attended Ludgrove School in Wokingham from ages eight to 13 and then he went to Eton College.

He then attended the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst from 2005 to 2006.

The Duchess of Cambridge is Berkshire born and bred, having been born in Reading in 1982.

She attended St Andrew's School in Pangbourne for her primary education, and then attended the £42,090-a-year Downe House independent girls' school in Cold Ash.

The Duchess of Cambridge is said to have moved schools to Marlborough College in Wiltshire when she was 14 after being 'teased' by other pupils.

Prince Harry

Bracknell News:

Prince Harry also went to school in Berkshire. Just like his older brother Prince William, he went to Ludgrove School in Wokingham before going on to Eton College.

Harry then went to the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst between 2005 and 2008. Harry has previously described his decade-long Army career as "epic", saying that while it had started as a boyhood dream of his it eventually became a way for him to "escape the limelight".

Nicholas Hoult

Bracknell News:

Wokingham born Nicholas Hoult went on to study at the Ranelagh School in Bracknell for his secondary school education.

He played in big screen movies such as Max Mad: Fury Road and his first film featured Hugh Grant in About A Boy in 2003.

Dani Harmer

Bracknell News:

The actor from Bracknell is best known for her role as Tracy Beaker on CBBC.

She started her education at Wildridings Primary School in Bracknell, and went on to attend Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead.

James Haskell

Bracknell News:

Former England international rugby player James Haskell went to Papplewick School in Ascot.

He then went on to attend Wellington College in Crowthorne.

Ricky Whittle

Bracknell News:

Hollyoaks star Ricky Whittle famous for playing Calvin Valentine attended a school in Burghfield.

Ricky Gervais

No article about famous people in Berkshire is complete without refernce to Reading's most famous son, Ricky Gervais. 

The comedian and creative mastermind behind Afterlife, The Office and Extras grew up in Whitley.

He attended Ashmead School, now known as the John Madejski Academy.
