A plan has been submitted to make extensions to Abbey House in Grenville Place to create six new flats.

Now, developers Equinox want to add four two-bedroom and two one-bedroom flats to the building, making a total of 46 homes.

This would be achieved by adding a third storey to the building and an extension to the second storey to accommodate the new apartments.

Abbey House is located in the town centre, on the other side of the underpass from Barclays, HSBC and Natwest.

Although the building itself is not listed, the developers have provided a Heritage Statement alongside the application due to its proximity to Holy Trinity Church, Whynscar House and the Old Manor pub, which are all Grade II listed.

Developers have applied to change the use of the Magpie & Parrot in Shinfield from a pub into a large four bedroom home.

The pub currently has four bedrooms upstairs, but in order for it to be used as a home, the developers have to obtain change of use.

The upstairs would remain the same, but the pub areas on the ground floor would be changed to provide a kitchen and breakfast room, a dining room, a lounge and a games room.

The developers have also applied to remove a marquee, log store, toilet block and container in the grounds of the pub.

A previous plan to subdivide the pub and convert it into a home was refused in February last year (plan 202696).
