WORRIED parents say they are are 'preparing to pull' their children out of Brakenhale School after claiming their son's and daughter's are being treated 'appallingly'.

Further claims have been revealed about how students are being poorly treated at the school in Rectory Lane.

Last week, concerned parents got in touch with the Bracknell News complaining about the "strict rules" put in place by the new headteacher.

Claims included a girl being "made to sit on the wet floor outside to eat her lunch" and a year 7 pupil wet herself because she didn't have a doctor's note to use the toilet.

Since the article was published more parents have got in touch threatening to take their children out of school.

A dad described how his two children come home starving hungry because there is not enough time to buy food.

He said: "Previously, the year groups were staggered so the children had a chance to purchase their lunches at the cafeteria. However, they now have all year groups breaking for lunch at the same time so the majority of the students are queuing up for food at the same time meaning those that are lucky enough to purchase food barely get any time to eat it. Both of my children have stopped attempting to purchase lunch and are coming home starving hungry.

"The school has become rotten to its core and I massively regret sending my children to Brakenhale. They and their friends are extremely unhappy and I can foresee a mass exodus if this despicable abuse is not stopped."

Sharon Bushnell said she cannot wait for her son to leave the school once his GCSE's are over.

She said: "My son is in his final year and hates going to school now because of all the rules. My son use to take a bottle of water in but wont now as can’t go to toilet when needs too and the other day he got a detention as he was lining up before going in but thought he better go to toilet as he can’t go once in class so went and when he went back to line up he was told by a teacher that he was late and gave him a detention.

"The school has got like a prison, I can’t wait for my son to finish school. I just hope it doesn’t affect his exams."

Despite the claims, a Year 10 pupil thinks the rules are fair.

The schoolboy, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "I am perplexed by the fact that we are apparently not allowed to use the toilet unless we have a medical card. This is partly true, however, every teacher that has ever taught me lets us all go to toilet if we are desperate."

The student also criticised parents for moaning about their children having to stand in the cold.

"We all need to put our hands up because it ensures that every student is paying attention and listening in case there are any notices that need to be said. If anyone is complaining about not having a coat, it is the parents fault for not supplying their own child with one," he said.

The student also commented: "This school is good when it comes to teaching us how to behave and be well-mannered people. As a year 10 student, there is nothing wrong or abusive about the new rules that have been put in place."

The Greenshaw Learning Trust which run Brakenhale school also standby their original statement.

Will Smith, CEO of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: "Our expectation is that students present themselves in-line with the school's policies. If any students or parents have questions or concerns regarding our policies they should contact the school."
