An outstanding £30,000 has been raised by a local charity to help children and young adults with additional needs stay active.

Between September and December 2021, the Absolutely Together charity donated over £30,000 worth of leisure vouchers to families across Berkshire.

This money will go towards vouchers for fitness sessions at Absolutely Fitness in Bracknell, as well as bowling and karting activities. This includes providing families and local schools with the opportunity to experience swimming, the theatre, or a trip to a local attraction.

Absolutely Together is a part of the Absolutely Leisure Group, a not-for-profit organisation. The group donates all profits to the charity so it can give as many families as possible the opportunity to take part in and enjoy activities together.

Their aim is to put smiles on the faces of families who have children or young adults with additional needs who often experience emotional and practical pressures.

David Brind, Group Manager of Absolutely Leisure, commented:

“Financial and physical restrictions can mean youngsters with additional needs and their families can often feel left out and isolated. This can lead to mental ill health and an inability for young people to be active. Our aim is to change this and provide free experiences that can be cherished.

“The pandemic did have an impact on the number of families we were able to work with in 2021, as we had to halt our support. However, this year we are committed to helping even more young people and their families take part in activities that they may otherwise be unable to enjoy by providing more than £100,000 worth of free leisure vouchers.”
