A devastated business owner who was hit hard by Storm Eunice is calling on local dog lovers to help rebuild his facility after it destroyed everything that he had. Liam McArthur is the owner of LM-K9 and works with dogs that have severe behavioural problems, and is often used as a last resort for aggressive animals.

Mr McArthur is a fully qualified dog trainer and behaviourist and has built up his company with the aim of helping as many people as possible to build better connections and relationships with their dogs.

The marquee that was used as a safe space for dogs and their owners to train in every weather is left all but a frame, with the equipment formerly inside it scattered across the surrounding fields.

A YOUNG woman from Ascot is looking forward to a brighter future after being supported through her devastating cancer diagnosis. Athena Jamaranian, 19, who was diagnosed with pilocytic astrocytoma, a type of brain tumour, is getting back into the water this summer with a sailing trip from Largs in the west of Scotland with other young people who have faced similar battles.

She will join 600 young people living through and beyond their cancer diagnosis, following her first sail in 2019 with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. Athena says that sailing with the charity creates ‘a sense of relief’ as it gives her the opportunity to meet and talk to people who have gone through the same challenges.

She said: “Having met people who understand what you’ve gone through, you can talk about things you haven’t been able to with other people. They know exactly how you’re feeling.

THE owner of a fish & chip shop wrecked by a car crash said the collision could have been fatal had it occurred any other day.

A car crashed into the window of the Station Fish Bar on February 12, destroying the glass and damaging the interior. Owner Cindy Zhang said the crash could have been much worse - butthe building is now at risk of falling down.

“It’s a big headache now.The car came out of the pub car park across the road and crashed through our shop,” she said. “It was a Sunday so we were closed, butthey drove into the pillar so if we had been open the customers would have died, and all the staff.”
