So, you’ve got through half term with the kids, but you’ve run out of ideas for how to finish off the week.

Well, we’ve rounded up five of the top things to do for youngsters in and around Bracknell to enjoy a few more days of fun.

Look out because Water, heights and wildlife are on the agenda!

 

The Look Out Discovery Centre

This interactive facility is a hands-on science and discovery centre aimed at primary school aged children with over 90 activities to entertain.

It contains an outdoor play area which includes an all-access section. With a picnic area and coffee shop, you can stay all day.

There’s plenty to keep the youngsters occupied and suggested duration is more than three hours to get through all of the interactive activities.

One visitor on Trip Advisor said:

“Visited in January during a cold winters day. I was not sure what to expect, but I was blown away. The photos on the website do not do the Centre justice. We visited with two 2 year olds and they were fascinated by the varied and scientific exhibits.

“Particular favourites were the hot air balloon, the outdoors play park with train & the light show inside. They took time to explain the exhibits with us and showed us how to create structures that got the most out of the exhibits.

“Such an amazing facility to have, just wish it was closer to home as we would be there more often.”

South Hill Arts Centre

Bracknell’s famous arts centre and surrounding grounds are the perfect spot if you want to entertain the whole family.

The grounds have a relatively short walking and wildlife trail where you will find some stunning views and a few features which will keep the kids frolicking among the leaves for hours.

This includes the 30-metre balancing beam, which symbolises the height of the tallest tree on the grounds. You may even spot the occasional squirrel or two.

If you visit on a Sunday, the restaurant within the centre serves an exquisite roast that both adults and kids will love.

Whoosh Play Centre

If the little ones have some pent up energy left to burn off before school starts back, the Whoosh Play Centre will offer them two hours and three floors of fun in this incredible soft play area.

The venue has been recommended by past visitors for families with small children, as it is on the small side. However, if you are looking for something different then ‘Whoosh’ is the place to go.

Because of Covid the venue has a booking service to allow for a maximum number and make sure it doesn’t get too busy.

A reviewer said: “Came to play today with our 10 month old. We had so much fun and it was great for him to interact with other children of a similar age.

“Staff were friendly and welcoming and so were the other parents which I haven’t always found with these type of places. The food was a reasonable price too. Will definitely be coming again!”

Coral Reef Waterworld

If your kids are water babies and you enjoy the occasional water slide or two then Bracknell’s water park is open and ready for both kids and adults to enjoy. This is number five out of the 15 top things to do in Bracknell on Trip Advisor.

It is said to be the perfect place to take your children during half term or holidays.

One parent said: "Took family for half term trip. Excellent for all ages my youngest was 5 and eldest 14. We all had a great time. Place was very clean, all staff were polite and friendly, even though busy it was still a great visit.The water slides were fantastic and great fun!"

Another commented: “We had a great time with three children, 11-9-7.
“The kids and adults loved the rides. The wait wasn’t that long for each ride- the most was 10 mins. Booking process was easy and with the restricted numbers allowed because of covid the whole place was not that busy. All in all we will be back.”

 

‘Go Ape’ – Swinley Park

If you have a family that enjoys the sights and sounds of woodland adventure, then Go Ape is the perfect ticket away from the city.

Open from 10am to 3pm during the weekend, it really does have something for everyone.

You can choose between Treetop Adventure and Treetop Adventure Plus as well as Forest Segway for those afraid of heights.

Go Ape offers 2-3 hours of tree top fun and obstacles designed to get the whole families blood pumping.

Younger children can start with the ‘Tree Top Adventure Course’ to get their feet wet. Whereas there is a Treetop Adventure Plus extension for older children to test their limits.

One review said: “We had the best time at Go Ape this afternoon! Could not fault the whole experience, the kids loved it!

“Special shout out to Ben for saving the terrified 7 year-old and helped her complete the course turning her tears into the biggest smile, an absolute hero!”

The Segway experience takes you on an explore of the forest floor below the main activity area in the tree tops.

A past visitor commented: “Great fun doing the Segway experience with our 13 and 17 year old. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Easy to get the hang of then fun exploring the different trails . Forest setting is beautiful
