After a stressful work week, what better way to chill out on a Saturday or Sunday morning than a relaxed catch up in one of Bracknell’s independent coffee shops.
From village family run businesses to French Patiseree’s every one of these will bring something different to your day.
We have gathered five cafes and coffee shops that you have rated as your favourite on Trip Advisor for you to try and enjoy again and again.
Blue Orchid Bakery
This charming independent bakery and café in Wokingham was named Trip Advisors travellers choice in 2021, and from the reviews we can see why.
Although classed as slightly over-priced, the home-crafted pastries and hot drinks have been lauded as the number one café to visit in the Wokingham area.
The main draw for this café seems to be it’s independent status among the monotonous chain eateries and the focus on vegan and plant based snacks.
One reviewer on Trip Advisor said: “Really great independent bakery! Very glad to have this spot in town, great cakes and coffee and they were really welcoming of the dog too!
Another visitor absolutely raved saying it was a “veritable cornucopia of delicious home-crafted pastries, brownies, and quiches with a wonderful focus on the vegan and plant based.
“An establishment that genuinely supports the local community with refreshing ethical, charitable and environmental standards. The single source coffee grown by two El Salvadorian brothers who use the proceeds to fund a dog sanctuary is roasted in Clifton, Bristol, and is truly sublime.
“The environment, both inside and out is relaxing with never any pressure to hurry. The afternoon high-tea delivered during lockdown really was sublime. The vegan version I tried was spectacular.
Also, if you fancy catching up in the comfort of your own home, you can also get afternoon tea delivered straight to your home. How Fantastic!
Mason + Rye
This little gem is found on the ground floor of Fenwick’s department store located in the Lexicon.
If you fancy an open, airy and luxurious venue for your next coffee catch up then this little French Patisserie will be just your cup-of-tea.
Many reviewers have said it is a regular haunt. One commented: “Always enjoy visiting this cafe inside the beautiful Fenwick's store in Bracknell. Excellent and unusual cakes, absolute works of art.
Salads are good as is the other food on offer and the service is always helpful and extremely pleasant. Chairs are comfortable and the tables well spaced out. A pleasure to visit.”
According to previous visitors the marble counter-tops and serene environment just screams luxury in this chic French Patiserie without the extortionate prices of some.
This has scored a fantastic four and a half stars on Trip Advisor.
Brown Bag
Another little independent café that has struck a chord with visitors and Wokingham regulars is Brown Bag, located in Alexandra Court in Wokingham town centre.
Famous for it’s breakfast menu, the café serves the mouth-watering home-made porridge with scrumptious toppings and syrups.
The coffee shop has recently been refurbed giving it a lighter feel and spacious outdoor area.
One reviewer said: Great place for coffee with super friendly and helpful staff. They have a good range breakfast options - bacon roll very good. It has been re-decorated during lockdown which gives it a much lighter feel.
With an outlet in both Bracknell and Wokingham, you’re really be spolit for choice.
A reviewer that chose the Wokingham café said: “Plenty of coffee shop options in town, but these guys have it nailed. Great coffee, their food is excellent but they really stand out with their customer service. Friendly staff, who work hard but always have time for a chat. Keep up the great work team.”
Gail’s Bakery, Bracknell
With locations in three other areas throughout Bracknell Forest, Gail’s of Bracknell seems to be the favourite. The cakes, breads and coffees are a popular choice for anyone searching for somewhere to stop off on a morning after a stressful week or crazy night out.
Although it has received no reviews on Trip Advisor yet, the French Patiseree got incredible reviews from visitors when it opened last month.
The only down side is that there is a scary chance, with all the array of sweets and treats, of maxing out your credit card!
Crema Coffee
Although this is one of the most niche coffee shops in the list, it has received a wooping four and a half stars on Trip Advisor.
This family run café is set right in the heart of the small village of Binfield. With it’s layed out and spacious interior it is perfect for a drop off if you find yourself craving one of their speciality milkshakes or delicious home-made fare.
A regular vistor said: “I love this little cafe soo much the staff are always so lovely and the food and drinks are amazing. Today I had the new VEGAN Biscoff Milkshake (three of my favourite words!) I had mine made with oat milk and I honestly don’t think I would be able to tell the difference if it was a cows milk milkshake.”
