A church in Bracknell is shipping out sleeping bags to Ukrainian refugees fleeing to the west of the country.
Donations have been pouring in since the middle of last week when they began the initiatives to help Ukrainian’s seeking refuge.
The Kerith Church created their initiative with the help of Marta, a Ukrainian member of the community alongside friends at an Assembly of God church in Lutsk.
On March 2, Kerith Church posted a video saying: “We want to stand alongside our friends and European neighbours not only taking prayer action but practical action to help however we can.
“There are many people there in need of help. It’s cold, many are displaced or sleeping and hiding in closed basements so we’re taking an initiative and taking donations of sleeping bags.

Project champion, Sarah Walker was asking for new or nearly new sleeping bags with the highest possible tog.
Members of the community also chose to buy their donations online and have them shipped directly to the Kerith Church in Bracknell.
Multiple loads of sleeping bags are being packed up and shipped to the church in Lutsk, Ukraine after 4 days of collections throughout Berkshire.
They added: “We will be looking for other ways to help Ukraine over these coming weeks but we felt this was our first immediate step that we could take to get some much needed help to those in need.”
Because of the outpouring of support, the church is appealing for more boxes, laundry bags and people to help with packing over the next few days.
