Bracknell businesses and members of the local community have been invited for an afternoon of litter picking at the end of this month.

This event which has been arranged by the Bracknell Business Improvement District is part of a national initiative to keep Britain tidy.

The Great Spring Clean will bring volunteers together with the aim to eliminate litter and improve places with an annual national Spring Clean focus between 25th March to 10th April.

Sean Griffin, Bracknell BID Manager said: “Thousands of commuters and residents use the roads, footpaths, and cycle lanes in the BID area so we wanted to organise these Tidy Days to keep Bracknell tidy.

“We want to promote the feeling of community, pleasant surroundings, and a sense of wellbeing by keeping the area as litter-free as possible, and we’re looking for volunteers from the local community to help”

The Tidy Days are part of the BID’s wider strategy in working to maintain and improve the general condition and appearance of roads, footpaths, cycleways and grass verges.

There will be two community litter pick events: Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st March from 12 – 2pm, starting in Wickes Car Park, Western Road, Bracknell RG12 1NS.

Sean added: “By helping with our Tidy Days, you’ll be helping to make Bracknell a better place to work, improving the appearance and the environment, as well as helping to serve the local community.

“Anyone can come along to take part and can stay for as long or as little as they like. Volunteers will be provided with all the necessary PPE and equipment including littler pickers, hi-vis, gloves and a refreshment for helping to clean your local community!”

The event will take place on 30th and 31st March for volunteers aged 18 and over.
