A doctor who was caught speeding in Sunningdale has avoided a driving ban because she is a GP.
The Mercedes-driving medic was caught on a speed camera travelling at 38mph on the A30 London Road in Sunningdale, where the limit it 30mph, on April 24 last year.
Dr Agnieszka Papciak, aged 39, of Upper Charles Street in Camberley, Surrey, was found guilty of a charge of speeding via a single justice procedure at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on March 15.
The magistrate put three penalty points on the doctor’s licence, bringing her total number of points to at least 12 – meaning this was not her first recent driving offence.
Most drivers would get a lengthy driving ban after receiving 12 points in a three-year period, known as a ‘totting-up’ ban – however, the court heard that Dr Papciak would escape that fate due to her occupation.
A note attached to the court listing states: “No totting disqualification. Mitigating circumstances: employed as GP and impact on dependent regular patients and ability to attend home visits.”
The doctor did not escape completely scot-free through – the magistrate ordered that she pay a £346 fine and £115 in costs.
