Bracknell Gymnastics Club have made history over the last few years with 23 of their gymnasts chosen to represent GB in the European championships.
Their wins took place on apparatus, tumble and trampet track with several gold and silver champions within the club.
The gymnasts also walked away with the gold award for ‘Team of the Year’ in the 2022 Pride of Bracknell Awards for their amazing performances despite numerous set backs.
The gymnasts at the Bracknell club were awarded Great Britain’s first official medals in a European Championships, in not just one category but in 5 out of the 6 categories, including GB’s first European Championship gold.
In the Senior mixed category Bracknell GC won the silver medal and British Gymnastics’ best ever senior result at the European Championships.
Furthermore, master gymnast Connor Wharram was awarded the ‘All Star’ award for his performance on Tumbling by European Gymnastics.
In the Junior Mixed catagory the talented team won their first ever European Championships and the first time GB has ever bested the nation of Sweden.
The team faced particular adversity with team members having to withdraw on the day of travel and gymnasts circoming to injuries during the event. Good strategy and a lot of heart pulled off the win. Bracknell gymnast Jack Stannah had to compete in every run to pull off the win.
Amelia Campion, junior female gymnast: "Competing in the European Championships was the most incredible experience of my life. It was made even more special because I was surrounded by my fellow Bracknell gymnasts and coaches."
