Residents are again being asked to provide their feedback on final proposals to merge two schools into one site in Bracknell.

Warfield Primary School is asking for the views of parents and the local community on the potential unification of the Woodhurst and All Saints sites in order to provide “a more cohesive learning environment.”

Bracknell Forest Council has been working with the school to explore where improvements could be made to the surrounding roads and routes of travel, after initial consultations took place in 2021.

A review of the school’s situation concluded that merging the two sites would be an “educational and financial benefit” as there are more school places than required in the area.

The leader of Bracknell Forest Council, Councillor Paul Bettison OBE, said: “Warfield CE Primary currently has space for three classes each year across two sites, but it is only able to operate two full classes each year across the two sites due to a reduction in demand for school places in north Bracknell.

“This doesn’t make financial or educational sense, so the proposal is to move all pupils to the larger, more modern Woodhurst site from September 2022.”

The council claims that the proposals would mean budget pressures would be reduced, which would enable more focus on teaching and learning resources to improve educational outputs.

“This will provide a better learning environment for all pupils, greater access to equipment and all members of staff. It will also create a unified school under one roof,” said Cllr Bettison.

The school is now welcoming feedback on these proposals until Thursday, May 5. If agreed, the site merger will begin from September 2022.
