A Bracknell resident has reached out to help save a beloved park café after fears of permanent closure.

Ziggy's owners posted an emotional status on their social media page last week about the cafe's potential closure in Lily Hill Park.

It comes after several complaints from local residents over noise from the generator and concerns raised from the council's Environment Health team.

According to the owners, they have eight weeks to find a solution or be forced to close.

Stephen Chown, Head of Natural Estates, Parks and Countryside, gave a statement to the News, to say: “Unfortunately, there have been a number of complaints from local residents regarding the noise of the generator, and we have a duty of care to respond to these.

"The council, along with environmental health, is working with Ziggy’s Outside Catering, to try and find a solution which supports both their business, and the local residents."

Since then, Sol Christiansen set up a fundraising page to stop the cafe from closing.

He said: "In order to pay for mains power themselves to keep their business and livelihood running, they need at least £5000 to achieve this. Please help me in saving a wonderful business, run by the loveliest, accommodating couple you will meet.

"They always go above and beyond for their customers, and this is their life, it would be a massive loss to see them go."

He claims the cafe owners need £5,000 to install a main power supply to the cafe.

Achieving this would require the owners, Denise and Rob to provide at least £5,000 for the installation.

Supporters have left words of support and kindness on the crowdfunders page along with their donations.

Richard Fletcher posted: “Wishing Rob and Denise all the best and hope this helps them to deal with the nonsensical decision by Bracknell Forest council! Save Ziggys!”

Simon Lloyd-Jenkins added: “Let’s get Ziggys the power they need to operate and not lose this fantastic small business.”

The outdoor park café has occupied Lily Hill Park for five years where they have become a valued asset to the community.
