Are you ready to offer a loving animal a chance at their forever home?
Battersea Windsor dog rescue offers animals across Berkshire the chance to find that one place to call home.
They have been housing cats and dogs since 1860 and are classed as one of Berkshire’s premier animal shelters.
Here is a selection of dogs from Windsor Battersea who are ready to be re-homed.
If you think you can rehome one of them go to https://www.battersea.org.uk/dogs/dog-rehoming-gallery.
You can also donate money to the charity to help it carry on it’s rescue work by visiting the same website.
Sika
Sika is an intelligent, motivated and energetic dog. She would suit an active home that is seeking a dog to do training and have adventures with.
She has some on-going training needs and is looking for experienced owners who are used to owning high-drive dogs with lots of enthusiasm for life.
The one year old Mongrel enjoys the company of other dogs and loves to play - she can get a little over-the-top at times so her owners will need to give her some guidance in this area and she'll need to live as the only pet in her new home.
Some work on recall training will be needed, and she avoids being put back on lead at times, so plenty of patience and a consistent approach will be needed.
Sika loves food, toys and people, and enjoys being the centre of attention, she could make an entertaining and rewarding companion to her new home.
Lucy
Lucy is a gorgeous lurcher who loves running around the paddock and playing with her toys. She will come and lean on you for a fuss when she has overcome her initial shyness.
On site we have seen her to be a little worried by loud noises and sometimes people but once she has been given some space she does warm up to you.
We are looking for a home who has had sighthound experience or is willing to research the breed and has the time and patience to help Lucy fulfil her potential. She does need her own secure garden so she can have off lead time in a safe area.
Gremmy
Meet Gremmy! He came to us as a stray so not much is known about his past, and he can find it a struggle to trust new people.
New owners will need experience of owning similar characters before and be prepared to take plenty of time with Gremmy to build his trust.
Gremmy has a sweet and sensitive character with a fun loving, cheeky attitude that we have found very endearing.
Due to his complex needs, he's looking for an adult only home in a quieter household with not many comings and goings, away from a busier city home.
Once Gremmy has made friends he loves nothing more than play time! He loves playing with toys and throwing himself onto the sofa for a little fuss before fetching another ball. We like to describe him as a cat in a dog's body!
Chili
Chili was rescued from a puppy farm and therefore hadn't lived in a home environment before, meaning that he required all training from scratch.
Chili was always fairly confident considering his background, and is quite typical the breed in many aspects, however he does suffer from sleep startle. This has caused issues in the past and Chili is having continued training around this.
Chili has spent a lot of time on foster and they told us that after a lengthy settling in period with extra training, he has been the best dog ever. He gives the best cuddles!
True to the Beagle, Chili LOVES to sniff and often has selective hearing. For this reason he will need his own private and secure garden to stretch those legs and continue working on his recall.
He finds it difficult to settle and be left alone so will also need more than one owner to build up the time he spends alone very gradually.
Chili is a lot of fun! He can sometimes get himself worked up and needs help calming back down, but with the right stimulation he's going to be so fun to work with.
Buster
Buster was found as a stray and brought to Battersea where the Jack Russel Terrior has found it hard to settle in.
New owners must be prepared to work on ongoing training and management in this area especially while settling in.
Buster has been unsure of lesser known people and hasn't always been comfortable being handled in more formal ways.
Since gaining confidence and relaxing in the environment, he has found firm friends.
He is often found nuzzling into someone's lap or pottering around in one of the paddocks. He also has a huge love for tennis balls!
Buster is happy to say hello and potter with other dogs but tends to prefer doing his own thing.
Bella
Beautiful Bella originally arrived in the UK from Cyprus.
She loves to play with her toys and likes a tasty treat for her training. Bella enjoys going out for her walks and spending time in our large paddock.
She is a sensitive, timid, but sweet dog that is looking for her new owners to have experience owning a dog that would has a tendency to try and escape.
Her new home will need to be located away from busy areas as she can be startled by sudden noises and her garden must be secure.
Bella is looking for an adult only home that can give her the time and space she will need to settle into her new home.
Bella can also be uncomfortable around handling and meeting new people so new owners and be able to read her body language. She has made plenty of human friends already and we will demonstrate how to do this to any new people too. Once she gets to know you she enjoys a gentle fuss and will paw for more.
Henry
Henry the lurcher is a lively and active dog- when he first meets new people, he can be worried and a bit apprehensive, but when he gets to know you his loving and scatty side shines through.
Typical for his breed he likes a good chase, so for the foreseeable future, he will need to be muzzled and on lead when out for walks.
Henry finds seeing other dogs on walks quite exciting and can become vocal and pull towards them. However, he is very clever and quick to pick up training when food is involved! He will need the time and patience for some ongoing training inside and outside the home.
He is playful with toys, was housetrained in a foster home and travels well in the car.
Henry has shown to be very scared of men in particular. He is however, working well with training in place and slowly making friends with men at Battersea, Old Windsor.
Morph
Morph is an energetic, intelligent, full of life dog looking for an active family who can keep up with his energy level.
He loves to snooze in his kennel, but once outside he is up and ready to go.
He has shown to lack boundaries at times and can become easily over-aroused, and has shown to jump up and become vocal. He needs confident and experienced owners who will be happy to help Morph work through his lack of boundries.
Owners will need familiarity in high-energy dog breeds and would benefit from researching into his breed mix (Morph is likely a Bull Lurcher) to best learn about his drives and how to keep him stimulated.
He would be a great fit for an active home seeking an energetic and bright dog that are seeking to have a training and adventuring companion.
Buster
Buster is a sweet dog who is now looking for a new home.
The lurcher loves zooming around and will play quite enthusiastically with toys.
Buster's larger than life personality will appeal to those who have a love for sighthound breeds!
He is looking for a home who has some experience with sighthounds and understands their chase drive and also their fun side. He needs to be the only pet in your home and have someone around most of the time.
A secure private garden is important so that he can have his off lead time without any distractions.
Drake
Big fluffy Drake is a Bulgarian Shepherd who came into the UK when he was just a puppy.
His favourite things are his soft toys and getting fed hot dogs as part of his training. He does really enjoy off lead time in one of our large paddocks where he loves exploring and doing his own thing.
Drake is looking for a home with owners who are experienced in owning large/strong breeds, he is a large boy weighing in at near 52kg.
Drake has shown that he can be particular about his human friends too giving those he is not sure on a bark.
This beautiful dog would prefer to live in a countryside location and will need a secure garden that is fully fenced.
