Police responded to over 200 reports of violence and sexual offences in Bracknell Forest in February, according to official figures.
The recent sexual attack that occurred in the Eastern Roundabout underpass has sparked a debate about the safety of Bracknell’s streets and underpasses.
Data from police.uk website shows that in February 2022 there were 249 reports of sexual and violence offences throughout Bracknell Forest.
This is equivalent to 8.8 offences per day.
Over 200 of these are reported as under investigation and in 10 cases, no suspect was identified.
According to figures, Bracknell town centre and Crowthorne have the highest sexual assault rate through the region.
A variety of solutions have been put forward by the council such as improved lighting and reduced foliaged around entrances.
The instalment of CCTV cameras however has been an option that many residents feel would bring about less crime and sexual assaults on Bracknell streets.
