Once again, I am humbled by the generosity and welcoming spirit of the residents and local organisations in Bracknell Forest.
The borough is due to welcome over 100 Ukrainian residents as part of the Homes for Ukraine sponsorship scheme. Local support services, organisations and charities have been working together to help the new arrivals settle into the community.
This number is in addition to those arriving as part of the Ukraine Family Visa scheme. As we do not receive notification from the Government of those arriving under this visa scheme, I encourage any host families and individuals to get in touch with the council, so that we can offer advice and support to those who are newly arrived in our wonderful borough.
The time is drawing near for the start of The Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon. There is still time to sign up, but we also want to see as many people as possible cheering on the runners on Sunday, 15 May.
There will be a whole host of people taking part, including some in fancy dress and staff members from The Lexicon and the council; so it should be a fun community day for everyone. As the race starts and finishes at The Lexicon, you can even do a little shopping to reward your family member after their race!
Speaking of The Lexicon, a film crew set up in Princess Square last weekend to record residents reflecting on their memories of Her Majesty The Queen. The final video will form part of our Platinum Jubilee celebrations and I look forward to hearing what our residents have to say about the record-breaking reign.
All in all, it shows that big events are back in Bracknell Forest and, after the past couple of years, it is welcome news. I hope you have a great week, whatever you are up to.
