Local MP James Sunderland met with a well-known drinks company to champion the UK Spirits Alliance and support over-taxed distillers.
Following the closure of the Alcohol Duty Review, distillers are becoming ‘unfairly’ taxed under the current system.
The campaign they wish to champion seeks to ensure the implementation of a fair duty regime for UK spirits producers.
The Fabulous Drink’s Company, who use distillers such as Simone in Westminster for their liquors and spirits, were keen to earn Sunderland’s support on the matter.
On Friday, May 13 they met at local independent restaurant, the Den of Bracca, to discuss the topic.

Director of the Fabulous Drinks Company Simone Ray said:
“It was fantastic to meet with James Sunderland MP to discuss what we do at the Fabulous Drinks Company. We’re really proud of the products we produce and so it’s great to get the support of our local MP.
“We have asked James to take the message back to Westminster that the best way to support businesses like ours across the country would be to ensure the Government back spirits and back producers like me.”
A spokesperson for the UK Spirits Alliance said: “It’s great to see MPs across the country recognising that spirits are a British success story. Hospitality is a huge element of the UK spirits industry, and distillers provide billions every year to the Exchequer.”
“But we need the Chancellor to support the industry as we reform alcohol duty, to build on the Prime Minister’s Queen Speech commitment to ‘support Scotch Whisky and Gin producers.’”
“This is a once in a generation chance to make the alcohol duty system fairer and more representative of modern drinking trends.”
The Fabulous Drinks Company is a local Berkshire spirit producer that is made up of small local businesses from fruit growers and farmers, printers, and bottle makers.
Their bestselling spirits and liquors are Royal Berkshire Pink Gin and Santa Cruz liqueurs which they hand make in small batches using only the finest natural ingredients.

James Sunderland, Conservative MP for Bracknell, said: “I really enjoyed my meeting with the Fabulous Drinks Company where I met Simone who is producing spirits that capture the essence of England.
"UK spirits is a British success story creating jobs, investment, and economic growth across all four corners of the UK, including here in Bracknell.
"I want to see the Government support spirits producers like Simone, as the Treasury looks to reform the way alcohol is taxed.”
