SOON it will be time for the summer holidays and six weeks of no school for children across the country.

However, some children in Bracknell Forest have failed to attend school in term time and their parents have landed in hot water because of it.

Parents or guardians who do not send their children to school can be prosecuted under the Education Act of 1996.

Over the past month, a number parents or guardians from Bracknell Forest have been the subject of hearings at Reading Magistrates' Court because they have broken this very law.

We have compiled a list of the schools affected by parents failing to send their children to class, choosing to anonymise the parent or the pupil in order to avoid the identification of the child.

Here are the schools affected:

Easthampstead Park Community School

A parent was fined £113 and made to pay £266.50 in court costs for failing to send their child to school for five days in November 2021.

Harmans Water Primary School

A parent was fined £660 and made to pay £336 in court costs for failing to send their child to school between September 2021 and March 2022.

Binfield Church of England Primary School

Two parents were each fined £104 and each made to pay £131.50 for failing to send their child to school between September 2021 and November 2021.

Easthampstead Park Community School

Two parents were each fined £440 and each made to pay £239 for failing to send their child to school for five days in October 2021.

Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School

A parent was fined £440 and made to pay £268 in court costs for failing to send their child to school between September 2021 and November 2021.
