A plan to convert a Listed Building in the town centre into a place of worship has been approved by Bracknell Forest Council.
The applicant, Sri Venkateswara Temple and Cultural Centre, submitted the proposal which will see the Grade II Listed Whynscar House become a Hindu place of worship, as well as space for offices, yoga practice and community rooms.
As no internal or external physical changes to the property are proposed, Listed Building consent was not required as part of the application.

The 309sqm site, which had previously been used as commercial premises, already consists of reception and open plan offices at ground and first floor levels – with toilets and a boardroom – and a further toilet, shower, storage space and snug area on the second floor.
The property, which was recently on the market for £895,000, also has a large private car parking area to the rear.
The centre will be open from 8am to 1pm and 5pm to 9pm on Monday to Friday and from 8am to 2pm and 4pm to 9pm on weekends and bank holidays. Saturday’s will be the busiest day as it is the main day of worship.
It is expected that seven staff members will be on site during the busiest periods, made up of two priests, one receptionist and one administrative assistant, as well as up to three volunteers.
