IDENTICAL twins who survived a savage crocodile attack have reached the finals of the Brave Briton awards.
Melissa and Georgia Laurie, 29, have made the top 10 selection stage of the Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons Act of Courage Category out of around 50 nominations, all chosen by the public.
The twins from Sandhurst made the headlines last year after they suffered serious injuries in the horrific crocodile attack in Mexico.
Melissa Laurie and her twin sister Georgia were swimming in the afternoon in Manialtepec Lagoon, near the popular tourist town Puerto Escondido about 450 miles south-east of Mexico City, when a crocodile dragged Melissa under the water.
George then swam to her rescue, punching the crocodile to free her sister from the reptile's grip.
Melissa suffered an open wrist fracture, organ lacerations, internal bleeding, water on her lungs and sepsis while Georgia suffered serious injuries to her hands.
Four finalists will be selected in each category and the winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 11.
Falklands War hero Simon Weston chairs the judging panel and BBC TV and radio presenter Rachel Burden will make the awards.
Amplifon is a leading global hearing specialist with 107 stores across the UK.
