A recent patient survey has revealed that over the past year patients overall experience satisfaction has dropped at a substantial rate.
The CCG has released their 2022 results of the annual NHS patient survey, which shows the best and the worst surgeries in Bracknell Forest.
The national average for an overall good experience at UK surgeries is 72%, with the local ICS averaging at 70%. This means that both the local and national average has dropped by over 10 percent.
The survey shows that six GP’s out of the nine located in the RG12 and RG42 postcodes are above the national average.
This includes Evergreen Practice, Crown Wood medical centre, Binfield Surgery, The Waterfield practice, Ringmead medical practice and Easthampstead Surgery.
The survey asked residents for their opinions on practices, measuring their experiences on a range of topics including the ease of making appointments, waiting times, the quality of care given, practice opening times and out-of-hours services.
The Evergreen practice received the highest satisfaction rating with 86 per cent believing the practice to be good. Although this is one percent less than their 2021 rating, they have now jumped to number one ahead of Crownwood medical centre and The Gainsborough Practice.
Commenting on the national trend, Beccy Baird, senior fellow at independent think tank the King’s Fund, said: “There has been a failure of successive governments to adequately plan and invest in the future NHS workforce, a failure that has left GPs and patients to pick up the pieces.”
She said: "GPs are working harder than ever before, yet these findings show a dramatic fall in patients’ experience of getting an appointment.
“Many of the challenges patients face accessing their GP stem from the chronic staff shortages that have plagued services for years.
“Practices can’t recruit enough GPs, nurses or other professionals to meet the rising levels of need, because in many cases those staff simply don’t exist.
The GP surgery that has declined from 2021 to 2022 the most drastically is The Gainsborough Practice. Last year, patient satisfaction rating for an overall good experience was 88 percent. This year, it has dropped to 68 percent.
This puts it in the three worst rated GP’s in Bracknell.
