Gritters are on standby across Bracknell Forest to stop roads melting in the hot weather.
The vehicles will be spreading a light dusting of crushed stone, instead of the traditional salt, to reduce the chances of road surfaces melting.
The crushed stone soaks up excess tar and helps reflect a larger amount of the sun’s rays.

When temperatures break 30C for a prolonged period, as they expected to over the next few days, roads are at risk of starting to melt.
Bracknell Forest Council said: "Gritters aren't just for winter! Due to the extreme heat we are expecting next week, our gritters will be on standby to spread dust where necessary to protect the road surface during the warmest parts of the day today and until Tuesday."
