A children’s play area in Sandhurst has temporarily closed to residents while a revamp is carried out, just as the summer holidays start.

The play area at Snaprails Park, a 3.5-hectare park located to the west of Owlsmoor, is currently closed to residents while it undergoes a “significant makeover” to improve facilities.

The council said the £80k alterations will make the play area “more attractive and accessible” to the children and families who use the equipment.

The work, which began on July 18, is being carried out on behalf of Bracknell Forest Council by outdoor playground equipment manufacturer HAGS.

It will be closed until later in the summer to enable the work to be completed, which includes making it larger to accommodate more visitors, as well as the addition of a dolly seat, spinners and swings.

The executive member for culture, delivery and public protection, councillor John Harrison said Snaprails had been “due for an upgrade” and the changes will give the area a “new lease of life”.

“While the play area is temporarily closed, residents can access nearby play equipment at Evenlode Way, which is a 7-minute walk away.

“I look forward to families enjoying the new facilities when the play area reopens,” he added.
