Guests were evacuated from LEGOLAND Windsor's hotel this afternoon (July 31) after a fire started.

All visitors are 'safe and well' after the 'terrifying' blaze broke out around just before 4pm. 

A LEGOLAND spokesperson said: "At 15.35 hrs today, there was a small fire outside the LEGOLAND hotel.

"The fire was isolated to the front exterior of the hotel only.

"Our well-rehearsed emergency procedures were immediately implemented and the emergency services were called and attended the site. 

"The Hotel was immediately evacuated and all guests and staff are safe and well. 

"The health and safety of our guests is our top priority and the hotel is currently closed whilst the fire brigade’s investigation takes place.

"Hotel guests are being refunded or offered alternative accommodation. Guests have been given extra time to enjoy a selection of rides in the theme park this evening, which remains open for business as usual.

"The Castle Hotel (adjacent) is also closed."

One family was using hotel's swimming pool when they were told to 'immediately evacuate.'

Legoland visitor Jess Barraclough said about the fire: "It looked bad and I felt awful for the people barefoot and in swim suits coming out.

"My son's desperate to go and got quite upset watching as we were stuck outside it."

Another visitor said: 'All of a sudden I could see some massive black smoke going up. 

'I've seen that, I'm terrified and I think 'what's going on here?'

Some evacuees praised the staff's response to the emergency, whereas others claimed they were not kept in the loop about the incident and were kept waiting at the meeting point - the site's pizza and pasta restaurant.
