An Outstanding Ofsted rating is very difficult to achieve. It means that every area of the school or service is exemplary, and care is top notch.

Bracknell Forest has had several facilities, services and individuals that have gained an ‘Outstanding’ score in their latest Ofsted rating over the past few months.

Bracknell Forest Council

Children’s services at Bracknell Forest council was inspected by Amanda Maxwell, Her Majesty’s Inspector from June 13-17 2022.

Ofsted inspectors praised the team’s continued progress and hard work in a report following the inspection in June, which resulted in an overall grade of outstanding.

Two out of three areas were judged to be outstanding, and inspectors found that ‘children who need help and protection in Bracknell Forest receive a consistently high-quality service.’

Ofsted reported that since a previous inspection in July 2021, ‘relationships with partners have been strengthened and improved, which has had a positive impact on the quality of referral information and early joint working.’

Childminder - Jaskaren Bromley

Due to the fact that individual childminders are also in charge of a child’s emotional and mental education for a certain amount of time, inspection for individuals is also important.

Bromley was inspected on June 28 where she gained an outstanding grade in all of her areas of effectiveness.

This includes quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.

Ofsted said in their report: “The childminder and her assistant give exemplary support for children with a range of needs. They research new ways to support speech and physical development, then plan enjoyable activities which support all children to make exceptional progress from their starting points.

Both the main childminder and her assistant are said to be passionate about developing their knowledge and skills. Reflecting and considering how to improve their service, according to Ofsted they look at different learning styles.

The Rowans Pre-School

Ofsted inspector, Mandy Cooper said: “Children thrive in an environment where a love of learning is shared by everyone. They show exceptional confidence and great concentration in activities.

“For example, they make passports by drawing their own picture, finding and writing their own names and adding the flag that represents their nationality.”

Children within the pre-school are between the ages of two and four.

Ark Pre School

Inspected on May 25, the Ark pre school has continued to receive an ‘Outstanding’ effectiveness following the previous inspection.

Children's behaviour and attitude to learning is exemplary at this early learning centre. Ofsted observed that they demonstrate confidence, are happy and settled and have incredible fun in the stimulating environment.

Ofsted said: “The extremely dedicated manager and staff demonstrate exceptional knowledge and experience over many years of working with children. This is highly evident in the way they demonstrate a deep understanding of children's learning and development.”

The relationship with parents is said to be ‘highly effective.’

Old School Day Nursary

This Ascot day nursery is said to be highly effective and outstanding in each area of care and teaching.

Inspected on May 25, it is said that children continue to thrive in this ‘exceptionally inclusive environment.’

Ofsted said: “All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and children who speak English as an additional language, make rapid progress from their starting points. They are extremely well prepared for their next stage in learning, such as school.”
