1. Maths teacher told student how to 'sting' herself with elastic bands

A Maths teacher who advised a pupil about using elastic bands in a way that would ‘sting’ has been spared a classroom ban.

A hearing was held last month to determine whether Jordan Gilland, a former teacher at Edgbarrow School, Crowthorne, should be allowed to remain in education. 

This came after the Maths teacher spotted marks on the girl’s arm and told her about an alternate way to ‘distract herself.’

2. New Greggs on the way, 249 home development adjusted in latest planning news

A second Greggs is opening up in a Berkshire town and changes have been made to a huge 249 home development are among the latest plans submitted.

Greggs bakery looks set to open up in an empty unit of Peach Place in Wokingham town centre, joining the Greggs not far away in Broad Street.

Meanwhile, changes relating to affordable housing and more are being made to the 249 home Gorse Ride redevelopment in Finchampstead.

3. Man followed drunk woman 3.5 miles home before sexually assaulting her in woods

A Bracknell man followed a drunk woman home before kidnapping her and sexually assaulting her in the woods. 

Andrew Custos, of Wroxham, was locked up today (August 12) after ‘stalking’ the mother near home at Booker Common on February 26, 2022. 

The 30-year-old father had been driving his white Mercedes around Marlow town centre at 2am when he spotted the woman, who appeared ‘unsteady’, getting into a tax from outside The Ship pub.

4. New fashion brand opens in town with special discount

A new womenswear store is now open in The Lexicon today (11/08).

Hobbs, London has taken over unit 5L 14 The Avenue following the closure of the Jack Wills store in July.

To mark the opening of their Bracknell store, Hobbs are offering 20% off on selected lines until Sunday, August 14.

5. Parents' 'relief' after school IT technician found guilty of asking to drink kids' urine

An IT technician who asked two eight-year-old boys if he could drink their urine has been found guilty of inciting children to engage in sexual activity.

Calum O’Reilly Timms, of North Street, Martock, was on trial at Reading Crown Court this week after he was also accused of asking to touch the penis of one of the boys.
