Wokingham residents are being asked to have their say on what would help them make ‘more sustainable choices’.

Wokingham Borough Council has launched a survey requesting participants to share ideas and suggest what the council could do to support them.

The executive member for climate emergency and resident services, Councillor Sarah Kerr, said climate change is “everyone’s responsibility” and residents are being encouraged to make changes to their habits to reduce the risks.

“Not only is climate everyone’s responsibility, it is an issue that is affecting everyone, with increased severe weather over the past couple of years a sign of the impacts.

“Every decision we make about how we live our lives impacts our carbon footprint, and we want to know how people come to these decisions so that we can support them to make the most sustainable ones,” Cllr Kerr added.

Reports from focus groups, as well as videos by council officers and expert partners explaining some of the key things to consider regarding carbon emissions can be found on the council’s Engage Wokingham Borough platform.

The council will use the results of the survey, which is open to residents until September 30, “to understand people’s priorities” when making choices about topics including recycling, travel and energy and help it shape their future strategies.
