‘Unsightly’ and ‘overbearing’ housing plans plus other applications that have prompted objections are to go before councillors for a decision this week.
After a pause in meetings taking place following the death of the Queen, Bracknell Forest Council’s planning committee will be voting on three applications for developments across the borough on Thursday.
Two of the plans have been brought before the committee having received more than five public objections, whilst the other was at the request of a councillor.
The first plan that will be scrutinised proposes the building of four three-bedroom properties on Richmond Road in College Town.
The homes would be constructed following the demolition of the existing two-bedroom bungalow, called Breamar.
The application had nine objections lodged against it for reasons including overdevelopment, drainage issued, loss of privacy and highway safety concerns.
Lee Sawyer said the proposed development would be considered “unsightly from both a visual and audible perspective” and adding more properties “in such a confined area” would damage the streets aesthetics.
These sentiments have been echoed by Sandhurst Town Council, which recommends refusal of the application. It suggested the “cramped development” would be “out of keeping” with the existing pattern of development in the area and would be “detrimental” to neighbouring amenities.
Despite this, the development has been recommended for approval by the council’s planning officer.
Next on the agenda is a proposal to build a three-bedroom home and alterations to the existing two-storey end of terrace dwelling at 37 Stoney Road.
As well as the construction of the new two-storey building, which would also have a room in the roof, the scheme outlines changes to the existing house, including the removal of a single-storey side extension to be replaced with a single-storey rear extension and the addition of a canopy at the front.
The application had six objections lodged against it for reasons including overdevelopment, impact on trees, loss of light and being out of character with the rest of the area.
Cheryl Clinch said, if the development was given the go ahead, it would be “encroaching” on her property and “further reduce light” into the garden.
Bracknell Town Council officers have recommended the plan for refusal, suggesting the “overdevelopment” would “impact on road safety and parking problems”.
The application is also recommended for approval by the borough council’s planning officer.
The final plan to be considered proposes the erection of a single-storey rear extension to a bungalow located at 121 College Road in Sandhurst.
The extension would come following the demolition of an existing conservatory and the installation of two air conditioning units.
The application has been reported to the committee at the request of Councillor for Owlsmoor, Ray Mossom, due to concerns that the rear extension would be “unneighbourly” and “overbearing”, as well as concerns about noise nuisance from the air conditioning units.
This proposal has once again been recommended for approval by the borough council’s planning officer.
