A play area in Sandhurst re-opened to the public yesterday following a two-month closure for a ‘significant makeover’.

The playground in Snaprails Park, a 3.5-hectare space located to the west of Owlsmoor, has been out of bounds since July while new play features were installed.

Executive member for culture, delivery and public protection, Cllr John Harrison, said the play area was “due an upgrade” and believes the revamp that’s been undertaken gives it a “new lease of life”.

The £80k refurbishment was carried out by HAGs, manufacturers of outdoor play equipment and structures, on behalf of Bracknell Forest Council who said the changes were needed to “refresh the existing facilities” and “improve its accessibility” for families.

The play area is suitable for children aged between four and 14 years.

Children from Uplands Primary School and Nursery were the first to be allowed to try out the new attractions, which include a dolly seat, spinners and a new set of swings.

“It was great to see our young residents trying out the new playground facilities for the first time. I think it’s safe to say that everyone had fun,” said Cllr Harrison.

“We thank residents who waited patiently for the upgrades to the park. The reward will be that residents will be able to now enjoy new and improved facilities for many years to come,” he added.
