1. Top Bracknell school named one of the best in the world

A top Berkshire school has been named as one of the best private schools in the world, according to recent educational research.

Set in 400 acres of Bracknell Forest countryside, Wellington College is one of the first schools to establish a Mandarin Centre and embrace mindfulness in its curriculum..

The college, located in Crowthorne village, has been chosen as one of the Top 20 UK Senior Schools and among the best private schools internationally according to Spear’s School Index 2022.

2. Latest Berkshire firms who have been named by HMRC for unpaid tax

Individuals and companies throughout Berkshire have been named on the government’s latest list of tax defaulters.

The list published by the HMRC’s Publishing Details of Deliberate Defaulters (PDDD) scheme details people and businesses who have received financial penalties for either deliberately failing to comply with tax obligations or deliberately filing errors in tax returns.  

The government department says publishing the names is “about influencing behaviour by encouraging defaulters to engage with HMRC.”

3. Lexicon community hub launches alongside four new shops

A new community hub is set to open its doors next month in Bracknell’s multi-million-pound shopping complex.

The centre, named Vsi Razom, will be among the four other stores expected to open over the course of the next few months at The Lexicon.

Vsi Razom, meaning ‘all together’ in Ukrainian has been launched by Ashleigh Toomey and Natalia Vil to offer specific support and help to local people from Ukrainian.

4. Warfield residents 'over the moon' after 197 housing development plan rejected

Warfield residents have said that they are ‘over the moon’ at the decision to reject the appeal from developers to build a 197 dwelling housing development across Bracknell countryside.

Developers first applied to the council in October 2020 to build on the area with the inclusion of a convenience store and a roundabout access from Forest Road.

Despite the developer’s vision that it would be a ‘holistic landscape-led approach, it would also mean a lose of valued farmland and increased traffic for local residents.

5. Bracknell GP surgeries that are the easiest to book an appointment at

Have you been struggling to get a face-to-face appointment with your GP recently? If so, you are not alone.

The issue of whether GP’s are offering enough face-to-face appointment has been a topic up for debate recently.

Some feel that it is because of the understaffing of NHS surgeries and overloading that is causing the lack of in-person appointments. However, for some surgeries throughout Bracknell there has been nothing but glowing reviews.
