An 11-year-old Warfield swimmer came out on top in this month’s national swim meet breaking a record set by Olympic swimmer Tom Dean.
Zachary Callinan swam with the Maidenhead Marlins team on Saturday where he won both the 500-metre butterfly and the relay.
Once set at 32.4 seconds by the double-gold winner Olympian in 2011, the youth swam the length in 32.37 seconds ranking him number one in the country – in his age group - and breaking the club record.
Zachary said: “I’m feeling so accomplished after the race that has went down in clubs history.
“Over the next few months, I am looking to keep my standards high and keep my head down with my sights set on the Olympics.”

The Warfield boy trains with the premier division Maidenhead Marlins, coached by swimmer Fabian Whitbread.
During the event held at Wycombe Leisure Centre, Tom Dean made an appearance at the Arena League national competition were five clubs went head to head.
Zach added: “Having Tom there on the night was an incredible motivator because he is such an inspiration for me and everything I am working towards.”
Levi Callinan, Zachary’s dad was bursting with pride as he watched his son break the club record within both categories.
Levi said: “Everything that he does is so impressive. There is no question that he will make it because he is so dedicated and motivated to do so.
“As well as training for 13 hours a week he also does extra schoolwork outside of school hours because he loves doing well in life.”
In the next four months, the 11-year-old champion will compete in several more competitions and hopes to break five further club records in county and regional level.
