A TALENTED young ballet dancer from Bracknell has been chosen to star in the English Youth Ballet’s (EYB) production of the Nutcracker.
Holly Davies, 11, from Bracknell, was selected to join EYB after she sent in an entry to their competitive video auditions in July.
The audition required applicants to learn a dance and record themselves performing, with the 65 best dancers earning a spot in the production.
Holly is now experiencing the life of a professional dancer, participating in regular rehearsals ahead of Novembers production.
“I started ballet in April 2019 after begging my Mum for ages to let me try it,” Holly said.
“My Mum kept saying no as she didn't think I would be any good at ballet! I feel at home and free when I am dancing
I am really excited to be part of stage production for the first time. I love the Nutcracker and to be part of a production is really magical.
“I am going to be a mouse in Act One and I am looking forward to learning more about this kind of character dancing.”
Earlier this year Holly made the finals of the All England Dance competition and is currently a Junior Associate with the Royal Ballet School.
She hopes to be awarded a place in a vocational ballet school for Year Seven.
Holly will star alongside other young dancers from Berkshire, including Helena Green, 15, from Ascot and Elizabeth Lee, 16 and Katharine Lee, 13, from Windsor.
The girls will perform with international professional dancers, including Lyndsey Fraser who will be starring as the sugar plum fairy.
The Nutcracker will be performed at the Wycombe Swan in High Wycombe from November 1 to 2.
