A Wokingham fashion designer has said that her brands presence at London Fashion Week has been their ’biggest achievement’ and one step closer to her vision to branch out to wider audiences.
Aparna Jain started Yuniku London during lockdown and has went from strength to strength ever since.
Her new collection, which is inspired by strong, powerful, and beautiful women was showcased at London Fashion Week S/S 2023 at the Royal Horse Guard Hotel in London.
Aparna said: “The collection we made showcased how women can pull different looks easily from a day chic look to a glamorous piece in the evening which is where we showcased different styles of evening wear.
“The styles were made classically, so reinventing the classic styles to the modern age for the modern women of today and silhouettes were inspired by comfort and elegance and playfulness but still sophisticated.”
The combination of jewel colours throughout her designs complimented the black backdrop and Royal passing that hung in the air at the time of the Queens passing.
“The colours we chose originally fell in the right place because we used all the jewel colours which connected well with the Queen herself.
“Jewel colours represented the colours that she used to wear herself like blues and reds. Those are the colours we can connect with the Queen because she was always the lady of colour.
The inspiration that we took was that she always stood out when she wore those kinds of clothes. The whole idea with my collection is whenever you wear Yuniku London clothes you stand out from the crowd.”
Aparna’s long-term vision is to reach out to wider audiences who want to stand out with something different.
With London Fashion Week, it has given them a platform to reach out internationally to locations in Paris, New York and UAE.
All of the designs are created and made in India by Artisan families with the most sustainable materials.
The brand was showcased in John Lewis' flagship store over Summer 2022 to great reviews from the UK wide store and customers.
Aparna explained: "We had great feedback from the customers when we were in Johm Lewis on Oxford Street.
"They loved the design and concept of different fabrics that we used and the fact that it was very different and unique."
