1. Bracknell taxi boss bought £3.8M mansion with stolen taxes

Bracknell News:

A school run taxi boss has been jailed for six years following an investigation by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

An investigation was launched after David Park, 73, from Jealott’s Hill, Warfield, Bracknell, and his company Berkshire Education Travel Ltd Bracknell bought a £3.8 million mansion.

At the time he was the director of Berkshire Education Travel Limited and was providing home-to-home taxi services for Wokingham Borough and Bracknell Forest councils.

2. Ipswich Town to travel to Bracknell Town in FA Cup First Round

Bracknell News:

IPSWICH Town are going to be in for an almighty culture shock when they turn up to play Bracknell Town in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The club currently sitting second in League One boast one of the finest grounds in the EFL lower divisions at Portman Road, with a capacity of close to 30,000 and where England once played Croatia in a friendly.

The Tractor Boys will be coming to Bottom Meadow at Sandhurst where just 2,000 spectators find it a tight squeeze.

3. Bracknell residents urged to book flu and covid jabs

Bracknell News:

Residents are being urged to book both jabs as contracting flu and Covid at the same time risks ‘serious illness’, research by the NHS shows. 

Bracknell Forest Council, alongside the NHS, is strongly urging those eligible to come forward as soon as they are invited as vaccines “remain the best protection” against serious illness and hospitalisation from the viruses this winter. 

Executive member for adult services, health and housing, Cllr Dale Birch, gets a flu jab “every year” and is encouraging Bracknell residents to do the same.

4. Ascot crash involving three cars sees huge traffic delays during rush hour

Bracknell News:

A three-vehicle crash has caused huge traffic delays in the Ascot area this evening.

Fire crews from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue were called to the scene of the road traffic collision on London Road alongside Surrey Fire and Rescue.

A spokesperson from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue said: “At 4:18pm on Wednesday, 19 October, we received reports of a road traffic collision on London Road in Ascot.

5. Bracknell: Man held by police over kidnap of girl in 1980s

Bracknell News:

A 77-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with child abduction, indecent assault and kidnap of a girl following an incident over 30 years ago.

Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police Cold Case Team, Robert Frid, 77, of no fixed abode appeared in Reading Magistrates Court today (19/10).
