TO HONOUR Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, an oak tree has been planted in one of Woodley’s Parks.
The tree has been planted in Woodford Park, near the lake, by Woodley Town Council following Her Majesty’s death last month.
It will be listed on The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) map, a nationwide initiative to create a ‘living legacy’ by planting over a million trees.
Marking the Platinum Jubilee, it acts as a lasting tribute to The Queen’s “extraordinary service”.

The tree is in addition to the one already planted by the council in June.
The Green Canopy said it is “deeply saddened” by the passing of the Queen and announced that the initiative has been extended to the end of March 2023 at the wishes of the QGC patron, His Majesty The King.
The QGC was due to conclude in December – the end of the Jubilee year. However, as the official tree planting season in the UK is from October to March, the initiative will now be extended to include the full season.
An interactive map showcasing the planting projects across the UK will also continue to the end of March next year.
