The opening of a much-anticipated fast-food chain in Bracknell appears to have stalled after its planning applications were mysteriously withdrawn.

American burger joint Five Guys looked all set to open its next Berkshire store at 20 Braccan Walk in The Lexicon, replacing restaurant and bar chain Bill’s, when the company submitted two planning applications to the council last month.

They outlined the display of three new illuminated signs, eight branded breeze screens for the outdoor seating area and three branded parasols at the front of the building, as well as a new front door at the side.

Plans also detailed how the restaurant will be set over two floors, with the kitchen and seating area located on the ground floor and toilets and staff area on the first floor.

However, the planning portal reveals that both applications have now been retracted – much to the disappointment of residents.

A council report states: “The above planning application has now been withdrawn and no further consideration of the proposal will be undertaken.”

Whether this is the end of plans for a Five Guys in Bracknell remains unclear as the company, which has outlets in Reading and Windsor, may still decide to resubmit plans.

Five Guys and Bills were approached for comment.
