Three men have been jailed for stealing a golf bag with £15,000 stashed inside after forcing themselves into the victim's home at night.
Michael Bennett, aged 54, of Stanwell, Surrey, Nick Graham, aged 34, of Green Lane, Hounslow and James Knight, aged 38, of Chinchilla Drive, Hounslow all pleaded guilty to one count of burglary of a dwelling.
On June 24, 2020, the victim, a man in his fifties, was woken up to a man shouting at him having forced entry into his home.
The victim was threatened several times and the men stole a limited edition golf bag, which contained £15,000 in cash before leaving.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Kelly Turner, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “Although the defendants were charged with aggravated burglary I am satisfied with three guilty pleas for burglary.
“Due to the length of time this case has taken to get to trial their guilty pleas have saved the victim the stress of having to give evidence at trial.
“This investigation has required a lot of perseverance and I am happy that this has paid off with the sentencing of these three men.”
At Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, November 15, Bennett was sentenced to two years in prison, while Graham and Knight were sentenced to two years and three months in prison.
