An undisclosed US film company has been granted permission to film near Swinley Forest for a temporary period of nine months.
The land, which is accessed from Buttersteep Rise and owned by the Crown Estate, will be used for car parking, set building, unit base, marquees and other temporary installations.
The set-up period will take place between December 1, 2022, and April 31, 2023 from 7am to 6pm.
There has been concern about filming at the site, used for commercial forestry purposes and occasionally cleared for logging, due to it being situated on the green belt – land typically protected from building work by local and national planning policies.

Applicants argue any developments in the green belt are ‘completely reversible’ and therefore the set will have ‘no lasting impact on the landscape’.
The entire filming schedule is proposed to take place for nine months between December 1, 2022, and 31 August 31, 2023.
The shoot period will take place between February 1 and June 30 next year between 6am and 8pm – as well as the requirement for some night filming to take place between 3pm and 5am.
The process to take the sets down and put the location back to how it was before – called the strike period – will take six months in total, between March 1 and August 31 from 7am to 6pm.
It has not yet been revealed what the production is.
