HUNDREDS of homes being built at the former Heatherwood Hospital site will be named in honour of its history, it has been revealed.

Construction is soon to be underway for developer Taylor Wimpey, which was granted planning permission to build 230 homes at the London Road site in Ascot, and announced it has aptly named the estate ‘Heatherwood Royal’.

The developer also said it has completed the purchase of the former hospital, which treated patients for nearly a century, and work on the site has begun – with the first homes due to be released early next year.

The housing mix consists of 14 one-beds, 69 two-beds, and 40 three-bedroom flats – which range from three to five-storeys – and three two-beds, 88 three-beds, and 16 four-bedroom homes.

A new £100m Heatherwood Hospital officially opened earlier this year just opposite the old site with state-of-the-art facilities and technology to provide a range of services, such as Orthopaedics and Plastics.

Robin Pearmain, head of planning at Taylor Wimpey West London, said: “This has been a fantastic project to work on so far and we are very pleased to have now completed the purchase of the former Heatherwood Hospital. I would like to say a big thank you to the project team involved who will continue to work hard to deliver this fantastic project.”
