A Winkfield-born PT and author has gone viral on Tik Tok for shelling out some inspirational career advice.
James Smith, from the village near Bracknell, describes in a video how he was once stuck in a ‘dead-end’ sales job in Bracknell’s technology park.
However, the 33 year old took a leap of faith to venture into the unknown, moving overseas, and launching a new career. He returned to Bracknell 10 years later visiting the place that he once called home, and his experience has struck a chord with many people online a video of the trip has gone viral.
In the Tik-Tok video set in Bracknell, James said: “Around this corner is an office that I spent nearly two years of my life in when I was younger between the ages of 21 and 23.
“....I used to sell multi-factor authentication solutions; I worked in the sales department.
“I was someone that was very bored in a job thinking I was doing the right thing and I thought hating my job was the only way I was able to earn six figures or experiencing financial freedom and then I decided to do something that I would enjoy.”
After the author quit at the age of 23, he began working in a gym as a personal trainer where he worked for four years.
It was here that he said he found his love and passion for helping people become the best that they could be, 'debunking myths about the fitness industry'.
As well as wanting to inspire people through fitness, he has written books to help readers and clients build their confidence.
In the video, he continued: “If any of you that are on the cusp of leaving a job that doesn’t fulfil you and wanting to endeavour into the unknown 100 per cent do it.
"A few years’ time you might be stood in front of your old office telling people that you are three times number one best-selling author.”
The News spoke to James as he walked along the beach in Sydney where he now enjoys a slow-paced across the pond training clients online.
His occasional trips back home include reminiscing about his life in Bracknell and visiting his family who still live in Winkfield.
He said that the future 'is not about growing but maintaining the wonderful life that he has built for himself', all because he took that one leap of faith 10 years ago in Bracknell.
